![]()
The ECORailS project aims at making regional rail passenger transport more energy-efficient and thus also more economical and attractive both for administrations and passengers. The 2-year project will start May 5th 2009 and the kickoff meeting is scheduled for May 26th 2009 in Berlin. The project coordinator is FAV (Berlin). Trafikstyrelsen is the only Danish partner of a total of 14 partners in the project and Macroplan will act as consultant for Trafikstyrelsen in ECORailS thereby bringing over knowledge from projects like Railenergy, PROSPER and EVENT (UIC projects).
Transport is one of the most relevant sectors in terms of reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions respectively. Within the passenger transport sector the objective of reduction can be achieved by two approaches: First, shifting transport from car and plane to the more energy efficient rail transport and second, making the transport modes more energy-efficient in themselves.
